Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)

The property assessed clean energy (PACE) model is an innovative mechanism for financing energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements on private property.

PACE programs allow a property owner to finance the up-front cost of energy or other eligible improvements on a property and then pay the costs back over time through a voluntary assessment.

Rural and Low Income Grants and Assistance for Utility and Renewable Energy

Purpose: Financial assistance programs for energy costs

Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)  

The Department of Agriculture’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is aimed towards agricultural producers (at least 50% of income from agriculture) and small rural businesses.

“The program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing.”

Purpose: To reduce the cost of utilities and provide cost assistance for weatherization and repairs

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist families with energy costs. We provide federally funded assistance in managing costs associated with:

  • Home energy bills
  • Energy crises
  • Weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs

Purpose: Adding renewable energy to your home including solar, fuel cells, small wind turbines, and geothermal heat pumps

Renewable Energy Tax Credits

Purpose: Buying an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle

Federal Tax Credits for New All-Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles

  • Get a tax credit of up to $7,500 for new vehicles purchased in or after 2023!

Purpose: Buying new energy efficient appliances, systems and technology
