Zero Energy Homes

Zero Energy Homes (ZEH), or sometimes called Net Zero Energy homes, make as much energy as the occupants use during a full year.  In order to achieve this, a ZEH must be built with advanced design standards and modeling, be well insulated and energy efficient and connected to the electrical grid.  They are air-tight and they use solar systems to produce energy.  These homes can feed the solar produced energy back into the grid or pull energy from the grid during times when the solar energy is not sufficient.  However, at the end of the year the net energy consumption from the grid should be zero.
